NATIONALS WEEK INCLUDES 

National Competition, Title Competition, Convention, Ice Cream Party Event for all dancers and families, Private Studio Owner/Teacher Cocktail Party, Judges’ Choice Showcase, Title Contestant Showcase, the “Young Choreographer Competition” as part of the “Young Choreographer Experience” package option, and the Grand Award Showcase. Final Award Ceremony and Performance Showcase Tickets are INCLUDED in Traditional Event Package and Young Choreographer Experience. Additional tickets for family members will be available for purchase. 

 

TEACHER COCKTAIL PARTY 

An opportunity to mingle with fellow studio owners and teachers, meet the judges and hang with the Diva crew! Food, music, drinks, raffles and friends!

 

ICE CREAM PARTY 

Ice Cream Party for Dancers and families. Dancers and their families will get to enjoy FREE Ice Cream on the terrace followed by Banner Decorating Time! Studio Spirit Banners (33' W X 60' H) will be judged by the Nationals Judges and Diva staff.  The winners will receive a Pizza Party on Friday night. Studios will need to bring their own decoration materials.  Details coming soon. 

 

MASTER CLASSES 

In the interest of exposing our dancers to as many styles of dance as possible, and training versatile dancers, Diva will be offering two, hour and fifteen minute “Specialty” Master Classes in exciting styles not typically found at conventions. Classes will be taught by surprise guest instructors specific to their specialty.

NATIONAL TITLE ENTRIES 

A competitor entering a solo routine can chose to have their routine entered into the Title Competition. Solos will not automatically be entered for a Title like they are at Regionals.  Nationals has separate “Solo” and “Title” categories, so be sure to choose the appropriate category from the dropdown menu when registering.  All soloists choosing to be judged for a Title must have entered their routine under the “Corps” or “Elite” categories at a Regional Competition. Contestants will be competing to become their Divisional Title Winner and the coveted "Overall National Title Champion", the top overall highest scoring Title Winner of all Divisions. The "Overall National Title Champion" will also win a cash prize. Adult Divisional Title Winners are not eligible to win the "Overall National Title Champion".

NATIONAL TITLE ENTRY EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY

Title contestants will be given an exclusive “Audition Experience”, available only to them. Contestants will go through a real-life audition experience hosted by special guests. Contestants will learn two audition combinations; one in a traditional style of dance, and one in a commercial style of dance. Contestants will be scored during their audition. Their audition score will count toward their overall Title score (see below).

TITLE CONTESTANT REQUIREMENTS 

• Title Contestants are required to attend all master classes. They are required to check in at every class to account for their attendance.

• Title Contestants are required to attend the “audition experience”. Title Contestants will be scored in this class. 

• Contestants must wear their assigned number to all classes.

• Title Contestants will perform their audition pieces at the Grand Award Showcase.

HOW TITLE WINNERS ARE DETERMINED 

The class score (a possible 150pts) will count toward 1/3 of their overall Title score. The solo performance (a possible 300pts) will count for other 2/3 of their overall score (a possible 450pts). 

​

JUDGE'S CHOICE SHOWCASE

Judges will select standout routines from each day of competition to do an encore performance in Saturday’s “Judges’ Choice Showcase”.  This showcase represents the most interesting, fun, impressive or moving routines of the week.  Routine selections will be announced at each day’s award ceremony. Selections will be posted daily on Social Media along with the performance line-up. These routines will be in the running for the “Directors’ Choice Award”.

YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHERS COMPETITION

Each team from the "Young Choreographer Experience" will compete their original piece at the Grand Award Showcase. The winner and first runner up will be announced. Winners are determined by the Nationals judges and directors (judges may not vote for their own team).

 

TITLE CONTESTANT SHOWCASE

A special performance by all Title contestants at the Grand Award Showcase. Title contestants will perform the audition pieces they learn.

​FINAL AWARD CEREMONY, PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE & AFTER PARTY 

The final award ceremony and performance showcase will be held on Saturday Evening. A after Party to follow.  Keep the celebration going by dancing the night away! Details to come! Ticket fees will apply.

DEPOSIT

This exclusive event WILL sell out. Registrations are accepted first-come, first-serve. A $500 deposit is required at time of registration. Registrations without a deposit will not be considered valid.

OPTION 2 - YOUNG CHOREOGRAPHER EXPERIENCE (limited spots available) The Young Choreographers Experience is an opportunity for dancers and aspiring choreographers to learn and create in a collaborative setting with the guidance of recognized professionals in the dance industry. Not only will dancers have the chance to develop their creative voice and work closely with a dance professional, but they will also have the wonderful opportunity to make new and lasting friendships with dancers from other studios while working toward a common goal. 

Dancers will be broken into small, age-appropriate teams and paired with one of our four Judges who will serve as the team Mentor.  The Mentor will provide guidance to the group throughout the choreographic process. Each team will collaborate to create an original piece to performed in the “Young Choreographer Competition” on the final day at the Grand Award Showcase. Music selection will be revealed to each group at their first meeting. Each dancer will have the opportunity to contribute to their groups’ vision and choreography.

Requirements - Must be in the Junior, Teen or Senior Division. Must have competed all routines in either the Corps or Elite category.
